Why Blog?

I guess I should start off by saying why I am starting to blog (years after the concept became popular).  I have always enjoyed writing.  In college, my Freshman English teacher tried and tried to convince me to switch my major to some sort of English/Writing/Journalism.  At the time, I had an interest in becoming gainfully employed, so I decided to stick with my Early Childhood Education major.

Although I continued to enjoy writing, I never had much opportunity to do so, and it was just put on the backburner.  In December of 2012, I gave birth to the sweetest baby I could have ever imagined.  While she was nothing less than perfect, I found myself being frustrated more than I expected because of things that didn't come naturally or just weren't working.  What really frustrated me is that no one had told me to expect these things.

Multiple times, on those sleepless days, I would say to my husband that I wanted to start writing a blog just to tell people the things that no one else will tell them.  A blog that would let Moms know that it is okay if things don't come naturally.  The kind of blog that I desperately wanted to find when I was going through some difficult times.

Of course, as is common with a newborn, life got crazy, and although I continued to think about blogging, life just got in the way.

Now that my daughter (aka My Sweet Moose) is 18 months old (where did the time go?!), I have more time, so I decided to go for it!  Actually, the more accurate story is that I was sitting around one night and ran out of things to surf on the internet and decided that I had nothing to lose by blogging.  If nothing else, it gives me the chance to have an online journal of sorts.  In the best case, I can help someone who is going through what I went through when I first had my daughter.
